SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM

United Way and McPherson County Community Foundation partnered again this summer in providing a Summer Lunch Program for the city of McPherson. What was anticipated to have 150 children participate in the program, grew to 211 children from 78 families. Volunteers purchased the food that was then sorted, packed and delivered to the families.


PRESCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS

United Way awarded our fifth year of preschool scholarships through three McPherson County preschools - Good Beginnings, Sonshine and Mustard Seed. This year $4,407 was provided to 11 families to ensure their children would have the opportunity to participate in early learning and be better prepared for Kindergarten.

FamilyWize Prescription Drug Discount Cards

40% of people in the United States in the last two years have either skipped filling a prescription or reduced doses because the medicine was too expensive. To address this, almost 1,000 United Way agencies in all 50 states, have come together in this FamilyWize community service partnership to organize and coordinate community-wide distribution of these free FamilyWize prescription drug discount cards.

• The average discount  = 35% or more - about $20 per prescription 
• Accepted at all McPherson County pharmacies
• Covers all FDA-approved prescription drugs
• No age, income or residency restrictions - Anyone can use it
• All cards are bi-lingual, in English and Spanish
• Covers all medicine not covered by insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, or other benefit plans
• No registration, activation, paperwork or enrollment - no personal information is collected
